Social Darwinism is based on the idea that the individuals/businesses with the best characteristics will survive. Eventually, those with undesirable characteristics will eventual die out. This idea was introduced during the 19th century and resulted in less government intervention in the economy. This allowed businesses to pay workers whatever they want.
