Ralph ate 1/2 of a pie before dinner. After dinner he ate 1/3 of what was left. What fraction of the pie did he eat after dinner?

find a common denominator which woukd be 6. imagine he divided the pie ibto 6 slices and he ate 1/2 of the pie so there are 3 slices left. after dinner he ate a third of what was left so he ate 1 slice. 1 slice out of 6 slices is 1/6
