Hi there!

The Supreme Court can affect the rights of people primarily by interpreting and applying its interpretations of the Constitution to different cases that come before it. These cases can reinforce or restrict existing rights or create new rights all together. Some examples of new rights being created include the "right to die" by physician assisted suicide and the right to an abortion. Both of these rights were created from Supreme Court decisions (Vacco v. Quill and Roe v. Wade).
