Nationalism is simply a form of pride and group identity. By itself, its generally harmless or slightly positive. People tend to work harder/accept more sacrifices for a group which they feel values and has taken care of them. Generally it gets bad when the irrational blaming happens and it starts becoming a national excuse for invasions of other countries
