The agressors who are depicted in Zlata´s Diary, are the forces representing the Army of Republika Srpska (RS), the Bosnian Serbs, whose strategy was to create a new Serb state (RS), that would include Bosniak-majority areas.
The siege of Sarajevo, is also remembered as the longest of a capital city in the history of modern warfare. It lasted from 4/5/1992, until 2/29/1996, (1..425 days), three times longer than the Battle of Stalingrad.
