First you find how many miles can Gavin run in 1/12 of an hour. That way you can use it to times 12 and to find 12/12 of an hour which is 1 hour.

Turn it into an improper fraction. 2×5=10 then add that 10 to the numerator 3 and it'll be 13/5 miles in 7/12 hours. Then divide it by 7.

[tex] \frac{13}{5} \div 7 = \\ \frac{13 }{5 \times 7} = \frac{13}{35} [/tex]

So 13/35 is how many miles Gavin runs in 1/12 of an hour. Now times is by 12 = 146/35
