The end of appositional growth is in the early adulthood. The appositional growth process happens when the cartilage model also grows and thickens due to extracellular matrix that is added on the surface of peripheral cartilage. This surface is by new chondroblasts that came from the perichondrium and in the epiphyseal plate.
