Mark has 4 times as many cars as Dan together they have 30 cars. How many cars does Mark have?

Dan has X carss.

Mark has 4 times as many cars = 4X.

Together they have 30 cars/

30 = X + 4X = 5X

X = 30/5 = 6

Dan has 6 cars.

Mark has 4X = 4 x 6 = 24 cars.

Check: 6 + 24 = 30 cars.
