On this day in 1939, in response to Hitler’s invasion of Poland, Britain and France, both allies of the overrun nation declare war on Germany.

Germany invaded Poland which was an ally to France and Britain. Soon after they declared war, Germany conquered Poland and invaded most of Europe including France. I hope this helps:)
