ARTHROPODA means "jointed feet."
Phylum Arthropoda has some of these characteristics:
1) has stiff exoskeleton composed primarily of chitin.
2) arthropod's bodies are divided into segments. Some have tagmata, others have appendages with joints
3) arthropods have open circulatory system
