The mitochondria is an organelle found in biological cells. It's function is to convert sugars (glucose), into energy usable by the cell.

The mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell. It is found in plant and animal cells. The mitochondria are where cellular respiration takes place. Mitochondria are considered the powerhouse of the cell because they produce energy for the cells they are in.
